Plymouth council elects Jeff Tauscheck president, approves one-year committee appointments

At its April 21 reorganizational meeting, the City of Plymouth unanimously elected Jeff Tauscheck as Council President, swore in the mayor and several alderpersons, and approved a slate of one-year committee and commission appointments announced by Mayor Donald O. Pohlman.
Mayor Donald O. Pohlman called the City of Plymouth Common Council to order at 7:45 p.m. on April 21 and the council completed its annual reorganization, unanimously electing Jeff Tauscheck as Council President and confirming a slate of one-year committee and commission appointments.
Clerk Anna Voigt administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Donald O. Pohlman and to several alderpersons, including Dana Haucke (District 1), Angie Matzdorf (District 2), John P. Binder (District 3) and Mike Penkwitz (District 4). After the brief roll call and pledge, the council approved the April 14, 2026 minutes on a motion by Dave Herrmann, seconded by Diane Gilson.
During the reorganization portion of the agenda, Alderperson Angie Matzdorf nominated Jeff Tauscheck for Council President; Kevin Sande seconded the nomination. A motion by John Binder and Dana Haucke to close nominations and to nominate Tauscheck was approved unanimously, electing him Council President.
Mayor Pohlman announced several mayoral appointments for one-year terms and the council moved to confirm those that required council approval. The council unanimously approved the Finance and Personnel committee appointments (Angie Matzdorf, Diane Gilson, Jeff Tauscheck and Mike Penkwitz) and the Public Works/Utility committee appointments (Dana Haucke, Kevin Sande, Dave Herrmann and John Binder). The council also confirmed one-year appointments to the Library Board (Angie Matzdorf), Parks Committee (Dana Haucke), and the Revolving Loan committee (Diane Gilson and staff member Tim Blakeslee).
Additional confirmations included appointments to the Room Tax Tourism Commission (Donald Pohlman, Diane Gilson and Tim Blakeslee), Community Television (TV 14) (John Binder), Redevelopment Authority (Mike Penkwitz) and the Joint Review Board (Donald Pohlman). Council-appointed roles were also filled: Dave Herrmann and John Binder were approved to the Public Safety Committee and John Binder was confirmed as the city liaison to the PIC Board of Directors.
All motions related to approvals and appointments were carried by unanimous aye votes. The council adjourned the reorganization meeting and set its next regular session for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
