Tress said the program does not require city funding at the outset and would be led by volunteers.
Mrs. Tabelski noted staff would provide a letter of support and the council agreed to move the matter to the Jan. 26 business meeting for formal action. Presenters stressed marketing Batavia as the ‘birthplace of Western New York’ and emphasized phases of volunteer-led engagement if the community is selected for the program.
