Boone County council voted to release requests for proposals for legal counsel and financial advisory services for the 2027 calendar year, a move staff said is required because the current contracts have been in place more than five years.
At the meeting, a staff speaker explained the county’s procurement procedures and said the intent is to issue RFPs promptly so the county can receive bids and conduct interviews. The council moved and the motion was seconded; a voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
The county attorney’s office and finance staff told the council the RFPs would allow the county to ensure continuity and test the market after long-standing engagements. Staff said they would finalize the procurement documents and return with recommendations after bids are evaluated.
No individual vote rolls or tallies were read into the record; the council approved the motion by voice vote. The council did not name prospective firms and did not set a public deadline for proposals at the meeting.
The council will consider proposals and any recommended selections at a future meeting once evaluations and interviews are complete.
