Ware County approves road contracts, airport window replacement and an EMA trailer purchase

Commissioners approved renewal of the county's Meals on Wheels contract with the Southern Georgia Regional Commission to provide meals to the Nelson Green Center and home-delivered meals; staff noted the program serves thousands of meals monthly. The board voted to proceed with replacing terminal lobby window tinting at Ware County Airport after staff presented a local vendor quote from Crystal Tent Shop for $7,284; staff said the airport fund would cover the cost.
Emergency Management requested a 40-foot gooseneck trailer (Platinum Star) to consolidate mobile towers and other deployment equipment into a single transportable trailer. EMA staff recommended the local vendor Harvey Equipment (quoted at $20,400) citing local service and 14-ply tires; commissioners approved using returned disaster-deployment revenue (about $50,750) to fund the purchase.
All measures were approved by roll-call vote with commissioners recorded as voting in favor during the regular meeting.
