Auditor Jason Gant told the board he conducted a random draw under SDCL 12‑17B‑20 that selected Precinct‑05 (114 ballots cast) and the State Senate and U.S. Senate races for the post‑election audit. Commissioners voted to hold the audit on Wednesday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. The motion to schedule the audit was made by Commissioner Nick Stotz and seconded by Vice Chairman Kory Standy; "all in favor, motion carried," the minutes record.
The board also voted to approve an additional payment to poll workers at Precinct‑04 in Marty after reported polling‑location issues: $400 to the precinct superintendent and $350 to each deputy. That motion was made by Stotz and seconded by Chairman Colin Soukup and carried unanimously.
Auditor Jason Gant reported election figures to the board: 160 absentee ballots sent, 137 absentee ballots received and 1,333 ballots cast on Election Day, for an overall turnout of 47.8 percent. "Overall the Primary Election went very well," Auditor Jason Gant said.
The certification of the county’s primary results was made while the board was acting as the County Board of Canvassers. The minutes do not record any dissenting votes or petitions related to the certification; all recorded motions were adopted "all in favor."
