Broken Bow Public Schools Superintendent Darren Tobey addressed the City Council during the Oct. 24 meeting to outline facility areas the district says need attention ahead of a possible school bond.
Tobey told the council the district is focused on improving safety and upgrading vocational and arts facilities, listing agriculture, automotive, woods, fine arts and science classrooms among the areas of concern. "This affects all citizens and encourages everyone to take a look at the school," Mayor Rod Sonnichsen said after the presentation.
The minutes record Tobey’s presentation as an item under communications; no bond amount, ballot timing or specific funding plan was presented in the council minutes. The council took no formal action on a bond measure during the meeting.
Superintendent Tobey's request appears as an advisory communication to the council; any future bond proposal would require board approval, a public notification process and, if placed on a ballot, a vote of the electorate.
