Braselton holds public hearing on downtown code changes; townhouses proposed as special use

Planning Director Kevin Keller presented proposed amendments to the Town of Braselton Development Code during a May 7 public hearing, telling the council the changes are intended to remove confusion between building types and allowable uses in the Downtown Overlay District.
Keller said the first amendment would add this sentence to Section 4.8(C): "Each building type is only permitted in a Tier in accordance with a use that per Section 5.2 is either permitted by right or granted through a special use approval by the Town Council." The second amendment would move "townhouse" in the Downtown Overlay District from a permitted use in all tiers to a special use in all tiers. Keller said both amendments were recommended for approval by the Planning Commission.
The public hearing opened and closed with no public comment or council debate recorded on the matter. No vote on the amendments was taken during the work session.
The hearing record will be part of the council's consideration of the proposed code amendments; no further action was recorded at the May 7 work session.
