Mayor Allen delivered the borough's annual State of the Municipality address near the close of the June 8 meeting, thanking municipal staff, volunteers, public-safety agencies and nonprofit partners and summarizing priorities and local investments.
"I am pleased to report that the financial condition of Bethel Park remains strong," the mayor said, noting the municipal millage rate stands at 4.13 mills, which includes the fire department's 0.34 mills. He framed recreation and parks as a council priority, citing a 3,000-square-foot splash park and a 10-court pickleball complex as recent investments.
Allen reviewed development activity, naming the Bethel Trail single-family subdivision under construction, Floors and Decors opening in Village Square, a planned Rivian service center, a new Mediterranean restaurant, and the Enclave at Cool Springs townhome development. He said the Bethel Park School District's new K–5 elementary school remains on schedule to open this fall.
The mayor thanked public works for heavy winter operations and the finance department for fiscal stewardship and framed continued growth as a responsibility to balance development with neighborhood preservation.
The address concluded with a call for continued partnership among council, staff and volunteers as the borough manages growth and services.
Next steps: The mayor suggested residents could view a recorded "State of the Municipality" presentation following the meeting; no new policy or budget vote was taken during the address.
