Bethel Park council unanimously approves ordinances, small contracts and grant application

Bethel Park Borough Council used its June 8 meeting to approve a series of routine finance, planning and code items, each passing on unanimous roll-call votes.
Councilmember Miss Garris moved to approve a RecDesk management software-as-a-service contract with Rec Desk LLC for $10,500 from the general fund (line item 452542) to support a recreation-software transition; the motion passed 8–0. The council also adopted Ordinance 6-8-26A, an amendment to chapter 25, article 1 of the municipal code addressing licensing and taxation of amusement devices.
Council approved Resolution R-6-8-26B authorizing staff to apply for a $38,250 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant through the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority to support a field-utilization study. That resolution passed by roll call vote 8–0.
In planning and zoning matters, the council approved a revision to the official sewage facilities plan (Resolution R-6-8-26A) for a land-development proposal at 4959 Highland Avenue. Council also authorized sending a proposed ordinance to regulate vape shops (amending chapter 69 of the zoning code) to the Bethel Park Planning and Zoning Commission and to the Allegheny County Planning Commission for comment and review.
The council approved the bill list dated 06/08/2026 in the amount of $1,683,393.68 by roll call vote 8–0.
None of these items drew extended debate during the meeting; council members noted coordination with grantors and the school district on some projects and described the vape-shop proposal as an item the community has discussed for some time and now moving to planning review.
Next steps: The vape-shop zoning changes will be reviewed by the municipal Planning and Zoning Commission and the county planning office; the Greenways grant application will be submitted by staff as authorized by the adopted resolution.
