Members of the Boscawen Economic Development Committee discussed preliminary steps for redeveloping the Commercial Street Allied Tannery site, including funding deadlines, technical assistance and infrastructure coordination.
Mike Tardiff told the committee that an EPA grant application deadline is Sept. 30 and that University of Connecticut students will provide site analysis assistance this summer to help prepare a request for proposals. Members said coordination will be needed to address water, sewer and road infrastructure on Commercial Street should redevelopment proposals advance.
The committee also discussed aligning any application to the Northern Borders Regional Commission this fall and coordinating those efforts with the Commercial Street TIF. No formal vote or commitment of town funds occurred; the discussion centered on preparing technical materials, identifying infrastructure needs, and next steps for seeking outside funding.
