Adams Central approves replacement of aging kitchen ovens after unit failure

The board approved purchasing new kitchen ovens after district staff described an oven failure shortly before the end of the school year that forced staff to adjust meal service for roughly 800 students. Mrs. Everett explained that maintenance staff temporarily repaired the unit over the summer but recommended buying four double-oven units to ensure reliable meal production.
Mrs. Everett said the recommended vendor offered trade-in credit for the old units and additional rebates, and priced the recommended equipment lower than other bidders. She told the board the district would fund the purchase from the lunch fund. "We definitely need ovens," Mrs. Everett said, adding that the existing equipment was about 24 years old and had reached the end of its useful life.
The board moved and seconded approval of the purchase; the motion carried. Administration will complete procurement steps and schedule delivery and installation so meal service is ready when classes resume.
