At the end of the Missoula Filmmakers Collective meeting, organizers outlined a slate of community programs and events designed to increase collaboration and keep creators active between larger productions.
Organizer Sarah described a two-tier program: weekly mobile-clip prompts where anyone can submit short phone-shot clips, and quarterly scripted short-film challenges intended to provide small budgets (craft service, minimal stipends) and production structure. "Anyone can submit," she said, describing a plan to edit weekly clips together and to host quarterly challenges for more finished projects.
Panelists said the Collective and MCAT will help provide logistical support (equipment checkout, editing suites and the Roxy venue for table reads and work-in-progress screenings). The group confirmed local support for the 48-hour film festival; organizers said SAG offers waivers that allow union actors to participate and that a kickoff orientation was scheduled for June 26 at Story House.
Organizers invited attendees to join the Collective WhatsApp group (QR provided at the meeting) and to volunteer for committees to shape prompts and production details. They also described exploratory plans to commission a short series of four pieces with urban wildlife themes being developed by members.
The Collective said it will circulate more details by email and on the WhatsApp channel; attendees were asked to follow up with Sarah or the organizers to volunteer.
