Woodbury County supervisors on Tuesday authorized the board chair to sign an interlocal agreement with Ida County under which the Sulland District Health Department will provide public‑health services to Ida County residents for fiscal year 2027.
Kevin Green of the Sulland District Health Department told the board the final agreement — reviewed by county counsel for both counties — formalizes the cooperative arrangement running from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. He said any services provided for Ida County residents will be reimbursed by Ida County "so this would be no extra burden on Woodbury County." Green also reported the county currently has about a $3,000 underrun in the budget that may cover unanticipated costs.
"This has been reviewed by county ties from both Ida County and Woodbury County and it is met within their approval," Green said. The board voted to authorize the chair to sign the agreement by voice vote, recorded as 5‑0.
The agreement follows prior intergovernmental cooperation between the two public‑health boards; the board packet contained final copies of the agreement for each participating entity. Supervisors said the arrangement helps maintain public‑health coverage in neighboring rural jurisdictions and ensures costs for Ida County residents are borne by Ida County under the negotiated reimbursement terms.
The board took the action as part of routine agenda items and did not discuss amendments to the agreement. The board chair signed the agreement following the vote.
