Dolores County commissioners approve routine business, two appointments and four formal actions

At their Sept. 2 meeting the Dolores County Board of Commissioners approved the agenda, expenditures and minutes; appointed one member and an alternate to the West Cemetery board; approved a $500 trust transfer to social services; approved a water‑rights due‑diligence application; and adopted an amendment to the Lazy Rooster Ranch land development agreement.
The Dolores County Board of Commissioners met Sept. 2 and carried several routine and formal items by unanimous votes. Chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m., and the board first approved the meeting agenda, county expenditures and three sets of minutes (July 7 regular and July 10 and 14 special meetings).
The board appointed Steve Gardner as a member of the West Cemetery board and designated Dennis as the alternate after commissioners said both had expressed a willingness to serve verbally; the board asked for brief written statements from the appointees for the record.
Commissioners adopted Resolution 09‑25‑01, transferring $500 from the Clara Muslim trust fund to county social services to support program operations. They also approved submission of a due‑diligence application to preserve conditional water rights held on Disappointment Creek; county staff and attorney Kim Purdue prepared the application and warned the board that the Division of Water Resources could require clarifications and that other water‑right holders might oppose the filing.
Finally, the board approved an amendment to the Dolores County land development agreement for the Lazy Rooster Ranch that clarifies which party must demonstrate completion, permitting and long‑term maintenance of a previously approved bridge; staff outlined the signature, recording and publication steps to fully execute the amendment.
Each motion was moved, seconded and recorded on the meeting record. The meeting recessed for 20 minutes midmorning and later reconvened to hear a presentation on courthouse space and security before adjourning for the day.
