Oak Point honors resident Miss Bailey with citizen bravery award after June crash

Oak Point officials presented a citizen bravery award July 17 to Miss Bailey for helping an injured driver after a June 15 traffic collision on FM 720 and Woodbridge Drive.
A lieutenant with the Public Safety Department described arriving at the scene and finding the driver with a deep traumatic wound to her hand and wrist. The lieutenant said Miss Bailey wrapped and applied pressure to the wound, declined the officer’s offer to take over patient care and remained with the injured driver until medics arrived.
"You were essential and played an exceptional role in this incident," the lieutenant said while presenting the award, noting Miss Bailey stayed in contact during the injured driver’s recovery. The department presented Miss Bailey with a citizen bravery award and a department challenge coin and thanked her for stopping to help.
The recognition was presented during the council meeting’s agenda item for citizen awards; council later moved on to regular business, including reports and action items.
