Fayette County school board places superintendent on paid leave, appoints Dr. Bill Bradford as acting superintendent

The board also voted 5-0 to retain outside counsel to conduct the review. Monica Mundy moved, with a second from Amanda Ferguson, to retain the firm identified in the meeting as Van Antworp Attorneys to carry out the review of information regarding the superintendent’s employment.
In the same series of motions, the board appointed Dr. Bill Bradford as acting superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools effective immediately and pending the outcome of the employment review. Amy Green moved the appointment, Penny Christian seconded, and the motion passed 5-0.
After the votes, the chair stated that the board would not consider any motions for a separation package and said the board was united in support of Dr. Bill Bradford, adding that the board’s focus remained on “ensuring stability for our students, staff, and families” and on the district’s core mission of supporting student success.
The meeting notice cited KRS Chapter 61 for the closed-session authority and named the John D. Price Administration Building as the primary location for the special meeting. The board’s roll call recorded Amanda Ferguson, Amy Green, Tyler Murphy, Penny Christian and Monica Mundy as present.
