Council advances Terrace Farm rezoning to third reading after applicant questions; resident raises basement flooding concerns

The Englewood City Council advanced Bill 26-04 (Approving Rezone #26-01 for the Terrace Farm subdivision from R-1 to S-PUD and preliminary subdivision plan) to a third reading at its May 26 meeting after a 5–1 vote. Councilwoman Courtney Rietman moved to advance the bill, Councilman Brad Rarick seconded, and Councilman Fred Huelsman recorded the lone no vote. Council asked the applicant additional questions; the bill will return for third reading at the June 9 council meeting.
During the public-comment portion of the meeting resident Danie Siereveld of 208 Overla Boulevard asked the city to investigate repeated basement flooding that occurs during excessive rain events. The minutes record the request but do not include a staff response or any immediate follow-up assignment.
Interim City Manager Della Stearns provided routine administrative items including notice that the Property Maintenance Board will meet May 27 at 4:30 p.m., bids are being accepted for annual street resurfacing with a bid opening on June 10 at noon, Englewood RISE will host a Movie in the Park on June 12 at Centennial Park, and a yard waste and used-tire disposal event is scheduled for May 30 at the compost facility on E. Wenger Road.
Mayor Cathy McGrail later moved to add and enter an executive session to discuss a personnel matter pursuant to R.C. 121.22(G); the motion carried unanimously, council entered executive session at 6:57 p.m., discussed only the referenced personnel matter and reconvened at 7:54 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
