North Pocono board clears policies, contracts, and program agreements in June 10 meeting

At its June 10 meeting the North Pocono School District Board of Education approved a series of routine motions and contracts, including policy adoptions, personnel actions, procurement awards and a partnership for dual-enrollment courses.
Key approvals that passed (most recorded as unanimous 8–0 votes) included: adoption of revised policies (attachment D); listed expulsion agreements; an agreement with Johnson College for Industry FastTrack and dual enrollment courses effective Aug. 1, 2026–July 31, 2027 (attachment B); amendments to the 2025 and 2026–27 school calendars; termination and acceptance of listed resignations; appointments and extracurricular appointments; listed agreements and transportation driver approvals; and NEIU19 resolution for special education services for 2026–27.
The board also authorized administration to bid for a new dishwasher at the high school to be paid from the food-service fund, approved bid awards for general art and janitorial supplies and accepted a low bid for copy paper through the NEIU19 consortium (Contract Paper Group at $30.23 per case), and approved Key Risk Insurance Company as the district’s workers’ compensation carrier at $125,951.
Officials approved a resolution to apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (Commonwealth Financing Authority) for a public school facility improvement grant to fund a district-wide lighting project. The board passed a procedural resolution authorizing the business manager to make payments in July when the board is not scheduled to meet; payments over $25,000 will be reported to the board and ratified at the Aug. 12 meeting.
Superintendent and staff also recognized student achievements: senior James ECmeter earned a silver medal in SkillsUSA information-technology services and fifth grader Abram Williams won the Pennsylvania PTA design contest; his design will appear on the National PTA convention shirt and he received a $200 prize.
