Staff listed several operational issues affecting park users: the splash pad runs on a timer but is often activated by passersby, exposed irrigation and bubbler heads that need adjustment, and plans to add pedestrian markings and no‑e‑scooter signage. Ryan said two counter positions are posted on the city website and that the department typically hires staff aged 16 and older.
Parking and permits: staff reported about 200 parking permits sold to date. New street‑parking signage will be installed and kiosks will be placed the week of June 22 and turned on July 1. Staff clarified boat‑launch permitting follows Idaho Department of Parks practice: a boat‑launch permit is tied to the tow vehicle (one tow‑vehicle permit covers multiple boats towed by that vehicle). Pricing cited in discussion included $20 for city residents and $35 for county residents for parking permits; boat‑launch fees mentioned were $50 for Idaho‑registered vehicles and $100 for out‑of‑state vehicles.
Other updates included new irrigation work at Travers, soon‑to‑start basketball court painting pending weather, replacement of deteriorating seat walls and planting in downtown beds, and a plan to relocate some Parks and Rec functions back to City Hall to free lobby space.
The commission approved the May 11 minutes at the meeting and moved on to the City Beach RV‑park agenda item, and staff said they will follow up by taking the RV concepts to the public on June 27 and to City Council on July 1.
