Williston commissioners voted unanimously on Nov. 12 to adopt Ordinance 1158, which amends Section 6.A of the city subdivision code to permit the division of existing lots that contain more than one residential structure when specified criteria are met.
City Planner Kent Jarcik outlined the ordinance language, which requires frontage on a public street, connection to public water and sewer, adherence to development standards and consideration of any shared use areas before a division may occur. Mayor Howard Klug opened the public hearing and asked for public comment three times; with no speakers the hearing was closed.
Motion by James Bervig, seconded by Victoria Siemieniewski, carried 4-0 to approve the ordinance. The approval updates the city’s approach to certain legacy lots that predate current subdivision standards and establishes criteria for future subdivision review.
