The Sterling City Council accepted a single bid for the Downtown Archway Project #24-012 and approved the associated agreement on Jan. 28.
City Manager Blankenship told council that only Concrete Specialties and Utilities Construction, Inc. submitted a bid of $159,787 for the archway work. By prior resolution the council had approved $70,000 from the city’s Hotel Tax Fund for the project; the Sterling Urban Renewal Authority committed to pay the remaining $89,787. Councilmember Wolf moved to approve Resolution No. 1-1-25 to accept the bid; Councilmember Haynie seconded and the motion passed by a seven-yes vote. Councilmember Delgado asked questions about the project during the discussion.
