The official said year‑one funds would cover flooring, paint and sensory equipment and some staffing; the room would be supervised and available on scheduled days for families and visiting early‑intervention providers. "What we'd like to do is use these grant funds, which is around the 31,000 to create a community space for children with special needs," the agency official said.
Committee members advised staff to follow purchasing thresholds and consult building services to determine whether work would be done in‑house or contracted. The committee approved a resolution authorizing spending up to $31,450 from the grant to complete the Meadows sensory room project.
Next steps: staff will prepare resolution language, coordinate with building services and schedule procurement or contracting as required by county purchasing rules. The committee recorded the vote to accept the grant and to authorize the expenditure by roll call.
