Council fills multiple advisory seats and calls for additional applications
Summary
The council reappointed and appointed several residents to boards and commissions — including the Zoning Commission, Architectural Review Committee, Board of Adjustment, Parks & Projects Commission and Economic Development Committee — and directed staff to solicit additional applications for remaining vacancies.
At its June 9 meeting the Castle Hills City Council moved to reappoint and appoint several residents to advisory boards and commissions.
For the Zoning Commission the council discussed appointments including Charles Jackson, Juan Solis and Christian Kristen; council members explained most appointments are made by individual councilmembers and staff had no blanket recommendation for those seats. The Architectural Review Committee saw reappointments and nominations including Anna Frius, Barry Middleman and David Kilgore; Councilmember Danes nominated Moretta Scott for an alternate seat and the council approved that nomination.
The Board of Adjustment and Parks & Projects Commission items included reappointments (Zach Zurich and Vic Silva) and discussion of holdover rules for members whose terms have not yet been filled. For the Economic Development Committee, Councilmember Danes moved to reappoint Richard Keith and council discussed filling council-appointed alternate seats.
Council members asked staff to circulate any submitted applications to the appointing councilmembers and suggested issuing a public call for applications to fill remaining vacancies. Council agreed that holdover members would remain until formal appointments are made.
Most of the appointments and reappointments were moved and seconded by councilmembers and approved without recorded opposition.
