Council adopts 24/7 no-parking ordinance for portion of Zornia Drive

The Castle Hills City Council on June 9 voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 2026-06-09, establishing a no-parking zone on the westbound lane of Zornia Drive from 101 Zornia Drive to 2011 Zornia Drive on a 24/7 basis.
City Manager Christopher Duke summarized two proposed versions of the ordinance: one tailored to peak hours and days and another providing a continuous no-parking restriction. Duke said he had spoken with nearby restaurant owners and that they did not object to the change. "When I spoke to Dr. Maguire, I believe his preference was 24/7," Duke said, referencing a resident who submitted the petition.
Councilmember Haley and other councilmembers argued consistency favored the 24/7 option because existing nighttime restrictions already cover some hours and a single clear rule reduces confusion. Councilmember May moved to adopt the 24/7 version and Miss Haley seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff noted signs and poles must be ordered and installed and that the city must publish the enacted ordinance because it includes penalties. Implementation timing will depend on procurement and installation schedules.
The adopted ordinance follows a resident petition and a staff review that offered options for days and hours; council members said the continuous restriction simplifies enforcement and public understanding.
