"The changes are in accordance with general statute 29‑6D," Chief Wester said, noting the model policy’s clarifications and that the department had adopted the statewide model in full. Council members pointed out typographical and wording issues in section VII.A.3 and asked the chief to ensure the final draft mirrors the model policy. The council then voted to adopt the updated general order contingent on the chief’s final review and correction of minor punctuation and phrasing errors.
Councilors said the town follows the statewide approach and welcomed the chief’s commitment to make the textual clarifications before publication. The revised policy will be posted after the chief confirms it exactly follows the model policy and the statutory changes.
