The East Hampton Town Council voted to approve submission of a Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) application from Epic Arts seeking approximately $40,000 for electrical upgrades and new doors.
Elizabeth Nam, representing Epic Arts, described last year’s NAA-funded work that replaced second-floor windows with energy-efficient models and said the organization now wants to address ground-floor windows and the building’s aging doors and electrical system. "We're going again for another grant this time around ... we're going for 40,000," Nam said, noting Epic Arts had previously used NAA funding and that donors such as Eversource and CNG Connecticut were being pursued to supplement the request.
After a brief discussion about the program’s community benefits, a councilor moved and seconded approval of the application for submission to the state NAA program; the motion carried on a voice vote and staff will forward the application to the program administrators.
Councilors described the project as a community asset that improves a long-used factory building and provides programming space for youth. The approval authorizes the municipal endorsement required for NAA submission; final grant awards and donor commitments remain subject to the NAA program rules and fundraising outcomes.
