West Washington board approves bonds to fund roof, HVAC, solar, paving and softball press box

The West Washington School Board on June 10 adopted a resolution approving bonds and related financing documents to fund a capital project that includes a roof replacement, HVAC upgrades, a small amount of rooftop solar, paving and a new softball press box. The board also approved a satisfaction and release of a lease-extension agreement and authorized the signature for that document.
The bond and financing resolution had been approved earlier in the meeting by the West Washington Community School Building Corporation and was presented to the board as the final step to proceed with construction. The president said bond proceeds will cover the roof, HVAC and exterior projects and that board members hope some proceeds may remain for additional small items.
Lynn presented a satisfaction release of a lease extension that references a third amendment to a lease dated March 14, 2005, recorded August 26, 2005, in the office of the recorder, Washington County, Indiana; the release states that the lease extension is satisfied and released in full. The board moved, seconded and approved the release and authorized signature by the appropriate official, and the document will be signed by Morgan Conrad as president of the West Washington Community School Building Corporation.
The board heard a construction update from a presenter identified in the meeting as Mr. Nice, who said the district will "break ground on the wastewater treatment project" this summer and that the plant is a package unit to be built offsite and delivered for installation. "We're finally breaking ground and I'm really happy for that," Mr. Nice said, adding that the most intrusive piping and site work will be done before August so student drop-off and pickup are not disrupted. He said roofing materials are on site, HVAC equipment is scheduled to arrive in July and most work is scoped to be completed before the start of the school year; the softball press box work will follow in the fall.
The board approved the bond resolution and the satisfaction release by voice vote. Next steps identified in the meeting include execution of the satisfaction-release document and crews beginning site work and installations as scheduled.
