The Planning Board on May 27 heard a rezoning referral from Cornerstone Homes CNY LLC to change a parcel from RA‑100 to R‑7.5 on Lawton Road to allow a 61‑lot single‑family subdivision. Tim Coyer told the board the R‑7.5 designation is intended to preserve higher‑density single‑family development in areas served by public water and sewer and that the layout will extend Harriet Fisher Drive into the site.
Onondaga County Planning Board reviewed the referral and recommended county health and OCWA approvals for any public wastewater extension, and suggested locating stormwater areas on dedicated lots and designing pedestrian connections to create a more walkable environment. Town staff reported Lawton Road is tentatively scheduled for repaving in 2027 and that the project area spans the Town of Clay and the Town of Cicero; staff said they would seek Cicero’s comments before taking action.
Nearby residents raised concerns about traffic and loss of tree buffers. David Yates, who lives two houses from Harriet Fisher Drive, asked whether RA‑100 could remain to preserve trees; Nick Gallipeau expressed similar concerns about traffic on Lawton Road. The board did not vote on the referral and adjourned the case to June 10, 2026 to gather additional comments and planning coordination (motion by Russ Mitchell; seconded by Karen Guinup).
