Boiling Springs council accepts $337,000 USDA disaster grant to replace storm‑damaged vehicles and equipment

The Boiling Springs Town Council unanimously approved Resolution #260505.01 accepting a $337,000 Disaster Assistance Fund grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to replace vehicles and equipment damaged during Hurricane Helene.

Joshua Carswell of USDA Rural Development presented the grant terms and said the award was drawn from a Congressional fund designed for disaster recovery. Carswell outlined compliance requirements that will remain in effect for the useful life of the assets, including nondiscrimination provisions, on‑site inspections to verify operational status and maintenance, and a compliance review every three years. He also said funds would be deposited by ACH within three to five business days after obligation and that the town will be required to provide quarterly reports.

Town officials said the grant will fund approximately half of the replacement costs, with the town responsible for the remaining portion. Councilman Marty Thomas moved to accept the grant and Councilman Justin Davis seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
