Board approves Amazon plan for reclaimed‑water treatment plant to serve mega‑site cooling

"We'll be taking effluent out of the Beatty's Bluff wastewater treatment plant... This is part of the cooling water supply to use reclaimed water as opposed to potable water," Wall said, describing the plant's role in converting wastewater effluent to a quality suitable for cooling needs.
Board members had no substantive objections on the record and approved the conditional‑use request by voice vote.
Wall said the current data centers are using potable water on a temporary basis and the permanent plan is to transition to the reclaimed source once the treatment plant is operating.
