At its Oct. 15 meeting the Santa Paula City Council confirmed multiple appointments to boards and commissions and approved resolutions establishing commissioner compensation.
Appointments included two senior-advisory members (Veronica Hiron Stone and Sylvia De Los Santos Raci), Lorena Long as the one-year youth representative to the Parks & Recreation Commission and the reappointment of Vanessa Olmos to a three‑year Parks & Recreation term. Brady Bang was appointed to a Parks & Rec seat, and David Ross was appointed to a partial term on the Planning Commission (term ending May 2, 2027).
Council also adopted two resolutions to formalize compensation: staff recommended and council approved a compensation structure (the planning commission compensation was clarified and the mobile-home rent-review commission was set with the recommended rate). Staff noted the fiscal impact for the planning-commission change was modest—an estimated $5,000 annually—and that pay would apply only to duly appointed members attending planning-commission meetings (not to other standing committees unless specifically authorized by council).
Councilmembers encouraged staff to use the applicant pool and recent interviewees for additional leadership and training outreach, and to invite interested applicants to future opportunities including the city’s leadership academy.
