Plan Commission extends Hickory Hollow preliminary plat and tables Winter's resubdivision

At the start of the March 5 meeting the Hobart City Plan Commission granted a six-month extension to August 2026 for the Hickory Hollow preliminary plat (Petition 23-12), allowing the petitioner additional time to complete financing and to begin excavation work planned after a separate LaPorte project is finished.
Developer Dan Steiner said market conditions remain slow but his company has pre-sold lots and is finalizing financing work with Baker-Tilly; he said excavation should begin within two to three months and requested another extension. Director of Development Marcos Rodriquez recommended a one-year extension, while Commissioner Stuart Allen successfully moved for a six-month extension; the motion passed 9-0.
Separately, Petition 25-16 (Prochorus Winters, Sr.) to subdivide part of Block 2 of the Grand View Addition into eight lots was tabled after the petitioner did not appear and staff noted the stormwater plan submitted by the engineer did not meet city standards; commissioners reiterated that road, curb and sidewalk improvements would be required when resubmitted. The commission also approved routine minutes and adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
