The Hobart City Plan Commission on March 5 voted unanimously (9-0) to grant Final Plat Approval and accept an amended site plan for RaceTrac, Inc. (Petition 25-38), a proposed one-lot subdivision at the southwest corner of US 30 and Clay Street.
Ben Siembida of Bohler Engineering told the commission that the applicant had addressed all staff comments and sought the amended site plan to consolidate an earlier March 2025 approval with public-roadway work tied to Clay Street improvements. City Engineer Alex Metz confirmed staff review found the comments addressed and recommended approval.
Siembida said INDOT required roadway adjustments tied to Clay Street that included adding an additional turn lane, widening and restriping on the far side of the road, and adding culverts based on INDOT traffic counts; the amended site plan incorporates those elements. The commission granted Final Plat Approval and accepted the amended site plan (motion by Dave Vinzant; seconded by Mark Kara; passed 9-0).
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with final plat recording and construction permitting, subject to any standard engineering and permitting conditions required by city staff and INDOT coordination.
