The board accepted personnel changes and approved new hires and transfers. Resignations named during the meeting included Amanda Brinkman, Mary Beth Sutton, Terry Knight and Cheryl Norris. New hires and assignments approved included Julie Tostson (high-school life-skills), Hannah Terrell (middle-school bed counselor), and multiple activities and coaching hires; the motion to accept resignations and approve hires passed by unanimous voice vote.
Administrators presented mandated revisions to policy DJFA (food-service procurement and written standards of conduct). The updates raise micro-purchase thresholds from $3,500 to $15,000 and adjust several informal procurement and equipment-preapproval thresholds (for example, increasing a prior $5,000 equipment threshold up to $50,000). Administrators said the changes were required by the Department of Education Child Nutrition Services office; the board moved and approved the revised DJFA policy as presented.
The board approved scheduling ASBSD scenario-based governance training this summer to onboard the new board member and refresh governance practices; the training will be open session and tailored to board questions. Dr. Rosa was referenced as a training contact.
Finally, the board set two special meetings: June 22 at 6:00 p.m. to accept bids for boiler installation and June 15 at 5:30 p.m. as an additional special meeting (the June 15 meeting will also discuss solar-panel decisions). Both meeting dates were approved by voice vote with no opposition.
Next steps: human-resources and administrative staff will complete onboarding for new hires, the business office will reflect any policy changes in procurement practice, and administrators will circulate training options, exact times and peer-school data ahead of the special meetings.
