Principals and nominators read formal citations for the four teacher recognition honorees: Rebecca (Becky) Barno (high school math), Sarah Gerald (special education, HCC), Lisa Peña (Wampus) and Heather Nimser (Coleman Hill). Speakers highlighted instructional leadership, long-term commitment and contributions such as mentoring, curriculum work and inclusive practices.
During the meeting the superintendent noted the district was recognizing employees across service milestones (20, 25, 30 years) and invited honorees to the stage for photos. The meeting packet and remarks named many recipients by school and role.
Board members also moved to approve agenda revisions that added two donation-acceptance items: acceptance of a donation from the Byron Hills PTSA and acceptance of a donation from the BHEF (Byron Hills Education Foundation). The superintendent noted recent PTSA contributions such as a new scoreboard for HCC and another scoreboard donation for Wampus; the motions to accept the donations were seconded and approved (vote tallies not provided).
The recognitions and donations were part of a longer evening that included presentations on athletics and policy reviews. The board did not announce additional fiscal details about the new donations during the meeting.
