Buffalo County Weed Board approves 2025 grant, plans sprayer retrofit after truck issues

The Buffalo County Weed Board approved a $6,100 grant for the 2025 season and discussed equipment upgrades and operational delays at its June 18, 2024 meeting.
Lee Sinkie, Buffalo County weed supervisor, told the board the department has used all grant funds allocated for the current season and that a grant for 2025 has been approved for $6,100. He also reviewed planned sprayer upgrades, describing a retrofit of the existing truck platform to accept a new tank plus miscellaneous fittings and other parts needed for the upgrade.
Sinkie said spraying of county rights-of-way has begun but that mechanical problems with the spray truck caused a slight delay; he told the board spraying will resume once repairs are completed. The update on equipment and service continuity framed most of the operational discussion.
Procedural business was brief. Brian Roduner moved to approve the meeting agenda and Jeff Fuegen seconded; the board voted unanimously to adopt the agenda. Donita Loudner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, with Roduner seconding; the minutes were approved unanimously. Jeff Fuegen later moved to adjourn, seconded by Roduner; that motion also passed unanimously.
Sinkie and Donita Loudner, chairman of the Buffalo County Weed Board, were recorded as having attended the February 2024 Weed and Pest conference in Spearfish. The board recorded that the date for the next meeting is to be determined.
