At its June 8 meeting the New Albany-Plain Local Schools board approved routine financial and personnel items and extended bargaining-unit contracts for one year to allow new leadership to bargain during the 2026-27 year.
Treasurer Jenkins presented the monthly financial report, noting the district received a one-time settlement and related reimbursements that improved receipts by roughly $3 million, and that the rollback homestead reimbursement of about $2.7 million was certified to the department of taxation. Jenkins said revenues and expenditures remain within forecast and recommended a $15,000 appropriation modification to cover higher auditor/treasurer fees.
On personnel, the board approved a slate of employee actions that included resignations and hires. Superintendent Sawyers highlighted several transitions: assistant superintendent Dr. Noak will resign effective July 31 to become a superintendent elsewhere; Dr. Hannah Mo (listed on the agenda) was recommended for an assistant-principal appointment; and seven teacher hires and various summer assignments were included on the personnel agenda.
The board also approved using $750,000 in food-service funds toward kitchen equipment for the new elementary school and reviewed the 2026-27 instructional fees and pay-to-participate structure; officials said most fees remain unchanged, with hockey pay-to-play set at $1,500.
Board members voted to extend existing contracts with the local bargaining units for one year with a 2.5% base-salary increase to take effect before the 2027 school year; administration said both associations approved the rollover. The board later moved into executive session under Section 121.22(G)(1) of the Ohio Revised Code to consider personnel matters.
Roll-call votes recorded members voting to approve the presented financial and personnel items; an abstention was noted on one roll call in the record.
