Allegheny Township supervisors approve promotions, hires, new policy and fall cleanup dates

Allegheny Township Board of Supervisors on Aug. 12 approved a series of personnel actions, adopted a township information policy and set fall cleanup dates that board members said will support township operations.
The board promoted Patrol Officer Edward Boop of the Allegheny Township Police Department to corporal retroactive to July 9, 2024, accepted the resignation of Officer Jose Pantoja effective Aug. 26, 2024, and approved hiring Jacob Zepeda as a part‑time patrolman for the ATPD at a starting rate of $21.00 per hour effective Aug. 23, 2024. The board also approved hiring Nicholis Kerchinsky as a full‑time public works laborer at $26.00 per hour effective Aug. 23, 2024, and appointed Ed Morrison as DPW crew leader retroactive to Aug. 1, 2024. Each motion was moved and seconded by supervisors and recorded in the minutes as carrying.
The board adopted a Township Information Policy after a motion by Supervisor Jeff Pollick that was seconded by Supervisor Mike Korns; the motion carried. The board also voted to enforce the Township Property Maintenance Code (Grass and Weed, Chapter 129‑1 through 129‑4) following a motion by Pollick that Korns seconded.
For community services, the board approved township Fall Clean Up Days for Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The motions to set those dates were moved by Supervisor Korns, seconded by Supervisor Pollick, and recorded as carried.
Financial and department reports for July 2024 — including reports from the police department, emergency management, fire department, Lower Kiski EMS, public works and code/zoning — were presented and placed on file. The minutes record that the treasurer’s financial reports for July were approved by similar motion and second.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jamie Morabito at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at 8:52 p.m. by motion of Supervisor Korns, seconded by Supervisor Pollick.
