Boxborough swears in two police officers with community-policing experience

The Boxborough Select Board on Monday welcomed two incoming full-time police officers and voted to appoint them during open session.
Chief of Police introduced Zachary Stillman, who had served as a dispatcher for the department in 2022–23, attended the police academy, and had previously worked for Boxborough before briefly leaving for another department; Stillman said he returned because he values the town’s community-oriented policing model and has also served six years in the military. The board and chief described a short field-training plan to get him back on patrol quickly.
The board also heard from Ryan Ingramman, who the chief said led his academy class, has served in both the Massachusetts Army National Guard (2015–2021) and currently in the Air National Guard, and has seven years’ experience as a 911 dispatcher and volunteer fireman. Ingramman said he is excited to begin service after graduating the academy in about two weeks.
The board moved and seconded separate motions to appoint each officer as a full-time police officer for the Boxborough Police Department for indefinite terms; both motions passed on voice votes.
The chief and board thanked the officers and welcomed them to town. The board noted officers’ community ties and the role of school-resource and community-oriented policing in local public-safety strategy.
