Board selects superintendent search firm and approves course fees amid enrollment dip
Summary
The board authorized HR to contract with McPherson & Jacobson to conduct the superintendent search; it also approved charging course fees for some concurrent-enrollment classes (fees qualify for FRL waivers). Enrollment projections show the district about 150 students down to budget, with a potential $375,000 school-finance impact if numbers hold.

The board approved two procedural items with potential budget implications. First, after a presentation by Adele Wilson, chief human resources officer, the board selected McPherson & Jacobson to conduct the superintendent search for the 2026-27 vacancy and authorized Wilson to execute the contract. The motion passed by roll call (recorded as 7-0).
Second, Mr. Beaver presented early enrollment projections (as of Sept. 3) showing the district about 150 students below budget and roughly 220 students lower than last year. Because Colorado currently allows four-year averaging in funded pupil counts, Beaver said the net funded-student difference compared with budget was about 36 students, and he estimated a potential $375,000 long-run impact on school finance funding if numbers hold and averaging changes.
On student fees, the board approved a change to begin charging course fees for certain concurrent-enrollment classes to recover supply costs. The district will continue to cover tuition for concurrent enrollment, and fees will qualify for free-and-reduced-lunch (FRL) waivers and be charged through PowerSchool; the fees range roughly from $40 to $100 per course per student, and will apply to students currently enrolled this semester.
Both actions were approved by roll call (board recorded votes as 7-0).
