At its Sept. 17 regular meeting, the Dolores County School District RE-2J Board of Education voted to adopt two policies on an emergency basis: KLG (Relations with State and Federal Agencies) and KLG-R (Relations with Federal Immigration Officials).
Board President Kimberly Alexander called for the motion; Donella Fury moved to adopt both policies as emergencies and Crystal Jarmon seconded. The board carried the motion with four members voting aye and one member, Jason Gray, absent.
The emergency adoption bypasses the district’s usual multi-step policy review timeline and makes the policies effective immediately. The policies had been presented to the board earlier in the meeting for review under the “Policy for Review” agenda items. The transcript records only the procedural vote and does not include additional substantive debate or a readout of specific content changes in the policies.
Board members did not record amendments or conditions tied to the emergency adoption during the meeting. The board will follow its regular agenda process for any future readings or formal ratification steps if required by district policy. The action was recorded in the meeting minutes as an emergency adoption vote (motion by Donella Fury, second by Crystal Jarmon; carried 4–0, 1 absent).
