Matt Henkins, introduced at the start of the meeting as a representative of the school system and a school-board member, updated the Martinsville board on several construction projects.
Henkins said work on an elementary school project is expected to be complete in time for the 2027–28 school year. He said design work is underway on an additional facility with a planned groundbreaking soon and a targeted opening for the 2028–29 school year. Henkins also said Building C at the athletic complex — including football lockers and related facilities — is progressing and should be ready by this fall.
Board members asked questions about handbooks and timing; Henkins confirmed the school board will meet next Thursday, June 18. The board welcomed Henkins as a new participant and did not take any formal action on school projects during the meeting.
The remarks were presented as informational; the board did not vote on school funding or change any timelines during the meeting.
