The Berkshire Local Board of Education approved a series of routine fiscal and administrative items during the meeting, including donations, permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2027, property tax and cyber-crime policies, the Burton Library tax budget for 2027, and several special-education contracts.
Superintendent John presented three memoranda of understanding with the Berkshire Education Association intended to reduce expenditures: eliminating a permanent substitute position, authorizing a teacher job-share (to save a set of benefits), and a language change to the Ohio teacher-evaluation wording. Trustees moved and approved those memoranda by roll call.
The board approved a list of volunteers; the motion passed with one abstention recorded for Mr. Wisworth. Trustees also approved staff to administer medication at the district's extended school-year camp contingent on required course completion, and they accepted the attached graduate list for the Class of 2026.
During personnel approvals the board specifically discussed the head girls' basketball coach and agreed to table that single renewal for review at the July meeting while the rest of the personnel slate moved forward. The board adjourned after confirming next meeting dates (July 13 and August 10) and recording unanimous approval of the final motions.
