Daughters of the American Revolution requests Liberty Tree planting in Marshall County

Carolyn Holly, regent of the Clarks River chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, addressed the court on June 9 asking for county assistance to plant a donated tulip poplar Liberty Tree as part of Kentucky’s Liberty Tree Project for the American 250 celebration.
"We respectfully request your assistance in identifying and approving a suitable location within the county for planting a donated tulip poplar tree on a site that has been selected and approved," Holly said, offering that the chapter would coordinate and host a dedication ceremony, ideally around July 4. She identified the local chapter as a nonprofit, volunteer organization focused on historic preservation.
Court members discussed potential locations near an existing sidewalk and noted that the county has a grounds policy that requires a vote. A motion and second were recorded to assist with site preparation and planting; the court voted in favor and the motion carried. The transcript shows county staff and volunteers agreed to help with digging and ongoing watering, and donors Vern and Judy James were identified as the tree donors.
Court members said staff (including an individual referenced as Eddie) would dig and water the tree, and officials agreed to coordinate the dedication once planting logistics were completed.
