Commission recommends land-use change for 501 Holly Hill Cemetery Road

Granbury commissioners voted to recommend approval of a comprehensive plan amendment requested by Wyatt Young to reclassify a portion of 501 Holly Hill Cemetery Road from retail office to low-density residential.
Cody, a city staff member, told the commission the property sits at the corner of Holly Hills and Loop 567 and that the 2025 comprehensive plan already identifies most of the parcel as low-density residential. He said the current zoning is planned development residential estate and that the requested amendment would align the future land use designation along Loop 567 with the rest of the property. "We have had zero letters in favor or in opposition," Cody said, noting that the city published notice of the hearing on May 23, 2026 in the Hood County News and posted it on the city's website.
The applicant, Wyatt Young, was not present. After the chair closed the public hearing, Commissioner Hayes moved to recommend approval of the future land use map amendment; Commissioner Mobley seconded the motion. The commission voted in favor and the motion carried.
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the consent agenda, including minutes from the May 11, 2026 meeting; that motion was moved by Mr. Mobley and seconded by Mr. Allen and carried. With no further business, the chair adjourned the meeting.
