Union City approves $104,740 paving payment, applies county aid and allocates millings to local sites

Council approved payment of a Cross Paving invoice totaling $104,740.81, allocating $92,130.00 from Liquid Fuels and $12,610.81 from the General Fund. The motion to approve the disbursement was made by Councilor Steadman and seconded by Councilor Kerns, and it carried unanimously.
Separately, Council approved applying $15,625 in County Aid to the Suit-Kote seal-coat project payment; Councilor Joyce moved and Councilor Osborn seconded the resolution. Council also discussed grinding millings for reuse; Union Township will truck and grind material, track its usage, and a previously approved load will be taken to Evergreen Cemetery. The Council approved supplying 2–3 loads of millings to the American Legion ballfield to address driveway issues; Councilor Osborn moved and Councilor Joyce seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips reported that Cross Paving and Suit-Kote completed the 2024 paving projects and that catch-basin work and mowing are ongoing. The borough will track use of the millings and coordinate grinding and transport with Union Township.
