Commissioners approve hires, fob policy and municipal tax assessment; one abstention on tax letter

The Sagadahoc County Commissioners approved a slate of routine actions at the July 9 meeting, including personnel appointments, a courthouse fob policy and the municipal tax assessment letter for Fiscal Year 2025.
Consent Agenda: Commissioner August moved to approve the consent agenda, including the April 30 minutes, departmental reports and warrants; Commissioner Grose seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
Tax assessment letter: Commissioner Crosby moved to sign the Fiscal Year 2025 municipal tax assessment letter setting the total tax assessment at $11,781,051 to support county operations. Commissioner August seconded; Commissioner Grose abstained and the motion passed 2-0.
Hires and job description: The commission authorized the hire of Charles Wilson as a 911 dispatcher (effective July 11) following Communications Director Mike Carter’s recommendation. The commission also approved hiring Sailor Cartwright as a part-time Probate Clerk (effective July 11) after Probate Register Sean Paulhus said 26 applicants applied and three candidates were interviewed. Cartwright introduced himself and said he was "excited about the opportunity to work for the county."
Fob policy and job description approval: Administrator Amber Jones explained a new fob policy for courthouse electronic access; EMA Deputy Director Hannah Dickinson described which doors are enabled and funding via a grant. The commission approved the fob policy (3-0) and later approved the job description for the part-time Probate Clerk (3-0).
Executive session and adjournment: The commission voted unanimously to enter executive session under Title 1 §405 6 A to discuss a personnel matter and returned at 4:51 p.m. with no action taken. The meeting adjourned at 4:52 p.m.
