In a prepared statement read to the board, the governing board framed the override as a continuation of an existing local property-tax override rather than a new tax and said the funds support maintaining class-size standards, districtwide full-day kindergarten, and instructional materials. The pro-argument listed the override's history of voter renewals dating back to 1990 and urged the community to "vote yes" to continue funding what the board described as core educational services.
Board members discussed the language and then held a roll-call vote. Miss Ku, Mr. Hernandez and Jennifer Romero each voted Yes; the motion carried. One board member who had briefly left the phone line cast her vote and the record was corrected to reflect her participation.
The resolution authorizes the board's pro-argument required by statute when calling an override election; the district noted that community members may submit both pro and con statements for the election literature under state rules.
