Bolton IWC forwards proposed wetlands regulation updates and fee schedule to Board of Selectmen

The Bolton Inland Wetlands Commission reviewed proposed updates to the town's wetlands regulations and a draft fee schedule on May 27 and agreed to forward them to the Board of Selectmen for review on June 17, 2025.
Wetlands Agent Alyssa Barroso presented a proposed fee schedule that adds minimal-impact permit fees and would increase some existing fees by roughly 30 percent. Commissioner Diane DeNunzio said she felt the proposed increase was fair. Vice Chair James Loersch cautioned that keeping fees low encourages development and expressed concern about raising costs. After discussion the commission decided to present the proposed schedule to the Board of Selectmen; Barroso will provide a current-fee comparison to accompany the proposal.
Chair Ross Lally also raised the possibility of holding future commission meetings in person and asked members to consider the change.
Next steps: the commission will submit the proposed regulation updates and fee schedule for the Board of Selectmen's June 17 review; Barroso will include current fees for comparison so the Selectmen can evaluate the proposed increases.
