Council accepts GDOT LMIG supplemental grant and funds Hudgens Trail design study

On June 8 the Duluth Mayor and Council approved several consent items that adjust grant and capital project funding. The council accepted $348,008.60 from the Georgia Department of Transportation (LMIG Supplemental) and approved ordinance BA-FY26-42 to add that amount to the GDOT State Grant line item and the Transportation/Infrastructure Improvements — Paved Streets repairs and maintenance line.
Separately, staff requested and council approved a $55,000 budget amendment (BA-FY26-43) using 2017 SPLOST Transportation Funds to contract with Practical Design Partners (PDP) to prepare up to five design alternatives and cost estimates for the Hudgens Trail pedestrian and bike connectivity project, conduct a public hearing, and finalize alternatives based on public and city input. The minutes indicate PDP will produce alternatives and cost options and help lead public engagement; the ordinance and consent approval were adopted unanimously.
These consent approvals were adopted as part of the consent agenda and no separate public comment or debate is recorded in the minutes.
